UHS Foundation

The UHS Foundation was established in 2005, in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, to support UHS employees and their families negatively impacted by a qualified disaster or a national public health pandemic. Affected employees can request financial assistance from the Foundation to help pay for essential living expenses, including housing, utilities, food, clothing and basic necessities. The UHS Foundation is funded through the generosity of the UHS executive team and UHS employees across the country.

With the impact caused by the recent storms across the country, which produced record amounts of rain resulting in severe and devastating flooding, the UHS Foundation is currently accepting applications for assistance. Employees living in disaster areas declared by FEMA may now qualify for financial assistance through the UHS Foundation. Levels of emergency assistance in cases related to a disaster may be based on household size and historical levels of emergency assistance provided by disaster relief organizations.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • The county in which the employee resides needs to be designated by FEMA as needing ‘Individual Assistance’.
  • The applicant must be employed by a UHS affiliate, working full-time/part-time (minimum 20 hours per week) prior to the event. Non-permanent, per-diem employees and employees on probation, suspension or under corrective are not eligible.
  • The applicant cannot have received financial assistance from the UHS Foundation within the last 12 months.
  • The applicant must provide additional documentation that will help the HRD and the UHS Foundation Committee better understand and verify the employee’s situation (such as insurance estimates, FEMA estimates, copies of repair bills).
